What is the TTPS App?


The TTPS App, is a technology deployed by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, to partner with the citizens and residents of T&T, to help eradicate crime in our communities. Through the TTPS App, every citizen has access to technology to better report criminal activities to the Police Service, who will act on all crime reports.

Frequently Asked Questions about the TTPS App


Officers at the TTPS Operational Command Centre receive all crime reports and emergency messages and will dispatch these reports to emergency responders or to the relevant police station or unit.

No. Only officers at the Operational Command Centre assigned to respond to reports will have the necessary permissions to access information shared via the app.

You do not need to give the app access to your location to use the app. However, you will not be able to receive notifications when passing locations where data points are set up to alert users in times of emergency.

No. Unless a report is made to police using the app where you share your information with officers or an ‘SOS’ is activated by a user, police have no way of accessing, receiving or storing information about users.

The ‘SOS’ feature allows users to alert police and up to five emergency contacts if you are in a situation that threatens your safety and need immediate assistance. This feature should only be used in case of an emergency, as persons can face six (6) months in prison and a fine of one thousand dollars for wasteful employment of police time.

The SOS Information you share with the app is needed for police to be able to contact you in the event that you need to use the ‘SOS’ feature. It will only be made available to police when the user activates this feature.

The app is available for download globally. However, certain features such as the 'SOS' feature are only available to users who are in Trinidad and Tobago at the time of use. This is to lessen the possibility of foreign agents misusing the TTPS Emergency Response Services.

Yes. The app is meant to make the services of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service easily accessible to citizens and residents within the jurisdiction. All reports made via the app will be received and processed with the same degree of importance as a police report at your local police station.

Yes. Mobile data or WiFi is needed to access the functions of the app. However, users will receive emergency alerts on their devices, even if mobile data is not enabled, BUT ONLY when they pass by certain data points across the country.
