The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is responsible for the safety, security and stability of our twin-island state by guaranteeing that law and order is upheld. We are committed to ensuring that all citizens live peacefully in a safe and secure environment and will do everything possible to ensure that this is achieved.
As Acting Commissioner of Police, I have mandated that all police officers receive ongoing training so that they will act professionally and show respect to all citizens; performing their duties with honesty and integrity. This is indicative through the modification of our motto “To Protect and Serve with P.R.I.D.E (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dignity and Excellence)”. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that all police officers conscientiously contribute to changing the image of the Police Service through timely and affirmative service to every community in Trinidad and Tobago.
We are mindful of the emotional needs of persons who are directly affected by crime and we empathize with them in times of distress. In order to improve the standard of service provided to citizens during such times, the Police Service has embarked on a series of customer service training for our officers. We also have a “One Door Policy” which mandates all police officers to take reports from members of the public and ensure that they are addressed – persons are not to be turned away or sent to another station. All concerns and incidences of crime must be brought to our attention so that they could be dealt with expeditiously. All incidents involving errant officers must also be brought to our attention so that the necessary disciplinary action can be taken.
Crime affects us all, whether directly or indirectly. As such, any information that will be useful to us can be given anonymously by either calling 555 or Crime Stoppers (800-8477). The information will assist us in removing those unlawful elements who are desirous of disrupting the lives and the physical and emotional well-being of the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago. We must not allow the criminal element to continue to wreak havoc against our citizenry.
As we seek to improve our public image, your feedback is important to us. Therefore, I encourage you to send us comments on your interactions with us and our performance, or lack thereof, and we pledge to do all within our power to have your concerns addressed. I encourage you to join with us and help us to better serve you, as we seek to build trust and confidence in our police service.
